Summer 2025 Tour Dates
Exploring themes of care, renewal and resistance, Challacombe Chronicled sees Richard Chappell Dance, leading South West poet Saili Katebe, and filmmaker Daniel Martin, weave together the ecological and cultural significance of Challacombe Farm and its surrounding moorland in a series of live performances and film screenings. Merging the lines between dance show and poetry recital, the performance embraces the sensitivity of what can be evoked through movement and what is expressed through words.
The programme begins with a unique walking performance at Challacombe Farm on Sunday 29 June. On Friday 4 July at Moor Imagination Centre, the project continues with company dancer and climate activist Marla King and Saili Katebe alongside local community poets and dancers. The evening also features live music from critically acclaimed folk musician Ben Moss, originally from Kingsteighton, Devon.
Excerpts from Challacombe Chronicled will also feature at Green Phoenix on Sunday 6 July – a festival dedicated to envisioning a sustainable future using collective creativity to empower action. Alongside the live performances, Exeter Phoenix will host film screenings on Monday 30 June. These original short films feature performances from the project’s cast of professional and community artists, capturing the spirit of the moorland through a cinematic lens.
Our summer tour concludes with 5 screenings of Richard Chappell Dance's seminal film Silence Between Waves at London's Royal Maritime Museum in their event Rhythm. The 1.15pm screening will feature a post screening discussion with choreographer Richard Chappell and dancer Faye Tan.
