Richard Chappell is an internationally renowned choreographer and performer. In 2013, he formed an ensemble of dancers to act as a platform for his choreographic research and touring activities by engaging with artists and audiences through full bodied and emotionally fuelled movement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Most recently, the company has created it's latest full length work Still Touch through a commission by the Royal Opera House and The Linbury Trust, in collaboration with renowned sculptor Anna Gillespie.
Richard's first outdoor work Silence Between Waves premiered in Torbay through Eyeview's Extraordinary Festival, featuring dancers from Singapore and a large scale community cast.
From 2017-2019, Richard created and toured his first full length work At the end we begin through Studio Wayne McGregor's FreeSpace programme. 2013-2016, Richard developed and toured his inaugural double bill IRIS and The Vast Rocks.
As a guest choreographer, Richard has created works for Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, Frontier Danceland (Singapore), Trinity Laban's Transitions Dance Company, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), BalletWorks, Chichester University, YDance (Scotland), Dance City, Dance in Devon and the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain. Richard has lead choreographic workshops for School of the Arts Singapore, Rambert School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, ArtEz Institute of the Arts (Holland) and Lasalle College of the Arts, amongst others.
Richard is a past Discovery Artist at Pavilion Dance South West, Resident Artist for Dance in Devon, Spark Artist at the Pegasus Theatre and Royal Opera House Young Creative. His professional training consisted of the Royal Ballet School's Associates program, Tring Park School and BA(Hons) from Rambert School.
